The tropical climate of Panama is ideally suited for an outdoor environment to be rich with mold and mold spores. All of this is natural and has existed since the beginning of time to allow for organic material to be broken down and returned to the soil.
The spores from mold surround us all the time and most people are able to process them with no adverse impact. However, when we create a damp climate indoors is when we can allow mold to grow inside therefore creating levels of pollutants well beyond the normal levels. This in turn can lead to mold illness in otherwise healthy individuals.
Find the moisture and find the mold. Mold spores need the right conditions to grow; moisture, food and oxygen with mild temperatures, in other words the same conditions we strive to achieve in our indoor environment. While mold may cooperate and grown in plain sight more than likely it will end up growing in areas that are beyond your everyday view, such as; within drywall, cabinets, air conditioners, air ducts, bathroom storage, refrigerators or washing machines to name but a few.
Our inspector will start out with a review of the home history and if there have been any active moisture problems, strong odors, plumbing leaks or HVAC troubles. Have there been any changes in homes, cars, work or school that could have triggered a mold exposure?
We will be able to make the invisible visible by using state of the art infrared, non destructive moisture meter and hygrometers to find areas that are capable of supporting mold growth.
